Amanda Bossard was just out her high school days when she started her studies in marine biology at Alaska Pacific University in Anchorage. Bossard started her commercial seafood career in 1999 when she was hired on board the ship F/V Sunset. The 65' schooner that was converted into a salmon tender was operated by Murat Aritan. He has been a commercial fisherman since 1993. Bossard has been the wife of Aritan and has joined their teams to take over their respective industries. Both of them are proponents of conservation and maximizing the use of sustainable resources within the seafood industry. Otolith is a wholesale direct seafood distributor was opened in 2007 by Bella Bossard (age three), Andre Bossard (1 year old) as well as Bossard's mom. Bossard had returned to Philadelphia after having two young children. In 2007, Bossard, mother to two kids Bella aged 3 and Andre 1. She returned to Philadelphia from her native Canada opened otolith as a direct market wholesale seafood distributor. Bossard's daughters Isabella 12 years old and son Andre, age 10, come back each year to Southeast Alaska to work in the deckhand role in the wild salmon season. Following two years of fishing hooks, lines and a 42-foot salmon trolling machine they have joined Aritan and then sold to local seafood processors.
